Year after year I slowly added weight until I took a good look in the mirror and didn’t recognize myself anymore. I decided that I had to reverse this process. I needed to do more than just a quick fix. I needed to change the way I eat. I wanted the weight to stay off. I didn’t want to have my weight go up and down. Through hard work – but not impossible work – I was able to achieve my goal of losing my excess weight.
So others can also lose weight, I have broken down my weight loss method into TEN STEPS that teach and encourage you towards your goal of a THINNER YOU! Read my story and you too can follow the same steps I took to reach my goal.
As you read through this weight loss plan, you’ll realize that it really is what you’ll have to do to lose weight. I don’t use any supplements. I didn’t want to wonder what these things are doing to my body, what happens when I stop taking them and do they have long lasting effects? I didn’t use any special gimmicks and I’m not selling any special exercise equipment. I didn’t become a nutritionist. I don’t have a plan that requires a 400-page book explaining how to match carbohydrates and proteins because nutrition lingo becomes a blur to me. The goal of losing weight is broken into TEN manageable areas that all work together to shed your extra weight. Following these TEN practical STEPS will get you to your goal. You will not magically lose weight and hear the pounds hitting the floor; it will take some time. But it works. Not instantly but steady and I have kept my extra weight off.

I just keep having a shocked look on my face everytime I step on the scale. I don't know why... I can do this... I am doing this... is this really the new me? When I go to buy new clothes (which isn't often, they only fit right for a week, if that) I go straight for the old size I used to be. I was walking with my husband in Wal-mart last night, stopped in the ladies section and just said, that's going to be me soon. I've never in my whole life ever been able to shop in the ladies section. It's always been plus sizes. WHY did it take me so long!!!! Well, I think it's because of the shit that happened to me growing up. We all have a story to tell and some of mine have made grown men cry. I am a survivor.... and I don't need to keep myself fat anymore. Know why... because I am worth it!!!

I started back to "running"....a VERY loose term. I have no athleticism in my soul but last year I put my mind to it, finished a program called "couch to 5k" and ran two races. By NO means did I come in first, but I wasn't the last. I have decided that since I am trying to get healthier and have decided to lose weight, I am going to start the program over (as it has been 6 months since my last race...or even since I last ran). To hold myself accountable I am making my intentions known here to my Flickr Friends: I am going to run at last one (if not more) races this summer. I'll keep you posted.
